Underway
I am researching a book on the subject of the expression of grief in contemporary art.
Reviews
I regularly write reviews, notably for the Burlington Magazine.
Recent past projects

Liliane Lijn: Light and Flow
Whilst the Thaw Senior Fellow at the Morgan Library and Museum in New York in 2023 I researched and gave a public lecture on the little known drawings for the 1983 volume Crossing Map by the London-based American artist Liliane Lijn. The revised text was published as a booklet by the Morgan in 2024.

Man Ray
I contributed an essay on Man Ray's iconic readymade work Gift (an iron with a central row of tacks) for Man Ray: Other Objects at the Luxembourg + Co Gallery, New York, in 2023.

Joyce Mansour
I wrote a short essay on the Egyptian-French poet Joyce Mansour for the catalogue of Surrealism Beyond Borders at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Tate Modern (2021-22).

Jessa Fairbrother's Conversations with My Mother 2016
Jessa Fairbrother's Conversations with My Mother is a beautiful and moving artist book that entered Tate's collection in 2018. Based on an interview with the artist, I wrote an article about this work, exploring its representation of grief, for Tate Papers.
